Wednesday, just after midnight a booming thunderstorm rolled through along with high winds and light hail, not enough to cause any damage to property by enough to cause some high anxiety inside the motor coach.
The rain gauge at I-20 registered 1 inch and the scene at the RV reflected that easily.
What a difference a day makes...
The playa was flooded...
From the boardwalk |
Bull Frog pond was filled
The mud recorded the early morning activity of both two and four-legged variety.
This tree was down near the new butterfly garden.
Box Turtle though she was hidden,
I briefly turned her upside down to observe the plastron, females are flat while the males have a concave plastron. Can't always see the eye color to determine gender.
Benchmark Pond was full again, no ducks or night-herons today.
The stream from Benchmark was still running with a strong current.
A Yellow Mud Turtle (Kinosternon flavescens flavescens) lurked near the Merritt Pavilion.
The air was fresh and clean with the dusty smell washed away. The foliage seemed bright and clean and birds and insects rejoiced.
