Birding Quechee SP and Star Party

Sunday August 4

I birded picnic areas on west side of bridge about 5:30... planned to walk over for some time now, glad I finally followed through

Good list of birds, picked up Tufted Titmouse finally along with American Redstart ♀ .
A real treat was  a first year Chestnut-sided Warbler with big obvious eye-ring, bright green back, and tailed cocked-up like a chartreuse wren.

Black-capped Chickadee responded to my pishing by almost touching my fingertips along with White-breasted Nuthatch.
Didn't realize how many trails ventured off from the picnic areas into the woods. I was aware of the trail to VINS, Vermont Institute of Natural Science, but not the others. Promise to go back and try some of them out. Times getting short, I'm afraid Labor Day will come before I'm ready.

Family of stargazers at rec field about 9:45. I pointed out a few constellations and located Saturn through a gap in the pine trees. Invited them to join me Monday night just about sunset with the telescope.
