Robin Hood July 27

Robin Hood Day at Quechee…

Park was full of campers, but most of them were attending the BBQ festival at Harpoon near Windsor, so we only had a small attendance at our Robin Hood activity.

Kate (Willa Scarlet) taught tent placement and kids made paper hats complete with colorful feathers.

Rachel (Midge, the Miller’s daughter) had a life-sized, spray painted on the grass, board game “Leave No Trace” to teach the basics of environmentally responsible camping.

Debra (An Arab who returned from the Crusades) taught fire building techniques, tepee and log cabin forms, and participants roasted marshmallows.

Dale (Little John)  and Carol (Gypsy fortune teller) provided supporting roles.

Robin and Maid Marion

Alvin (Robin Hood) and I (Maid Marion) led a short hike though the enchanted forest to teach hiking preparation and safety. We provided each hiker with a whistle to carry and instructed them on the correct procedures if they ever are lost while hiking.

Afterwards, the staff enjoyed grilled hot dogs and more marshmallows. Don’t ever waste a good camp fire!
