Finally made it out of Texas. Overnight in Hope Arkansas at the city RV park. $15 for water and 30 amp electric. Dump station was impossible so we by passed that. Didn't take time to find President Clinton's boyhood home.
Fund raising fish fry in the center so we did our part to support the local health center. An auction was also held, coconut cream pie went for $75. I wouldn't let Alvin bid even though that is his favorite pie.
We were ready to leave at 8 AM, listening to Fish Crow and Eastern Phoebe call while we prepared to depart. Chimney Swift circled overhead.
Rest area MM 93 on I-30 had Purple Martin. Love those birds, they are so vocal.
At Little Rock, we picked up I-40. Had only driven 15 miles when we were stalled by traffic jam about 20 miles long caused by a 5 Semi Truck accident. Both lanes of I-40 were closed. Took 2 hours to negotiate 2 miles before we were routed to Hwy 70 for about 13 miles.
Passed though a quaint little burg, De Valls Bluff, looked like a nice place to explore on a more leisurely trip. Lots of historical markers and red brick buildings along the main street.
Arkansas has so many rivers and creeks, which all look like swamps to me. Tall mixed forests, deciduous and evergreen punctuated by prairies and rice fields make great scenery. We passed through Cache River territory, Ivory-billed Woodpecker was not around.
We stopped in Blytheville AR at Grizzly's RV for the night, another PA site for $12.50 for full hookups. We had hoped to get into Missouri today but didn't happen.
